Los procesos creativos de la artista – reflexivos y empíricos a la vez – están siempre apoyados por el trabajo de otras personas (entre ebanistas, escritores, fotógrafos y artesanos) que, desde sus saberes, contribuyen a la materialización de una obra. Es este trabajo en conjunto el que permite transformar una serie de materiales e ideas en una obra de arte cargada de significados e interpretaciones.

The processes of the artist – which are reflexive and experiential at the same time – are always supported by the work of other people (including cabinet makers, writers, photographers, and craftsmen) who, from each one’s particular knowledge, contribute to the realization of an artwork. It is this conjoint work which allows a series of materials and ideas to turn into an artwork full of meanings and interpretations.

La estética de una obra no solo está definida por el producto final, sino también por los procesos que permiten llegar a él. A diferencia de otras disciplinas, el arte permite (e incluso demanda) una completa libertad creativa y política. En el caso de Lina Leal esto supone un despliegue de obras comprometidas con entornos sociales lejanos en tiempo y en espacio.

The aesthetic of a work is not defined just by the final product, but also through the processes leading to it. Unlike other subjects, art allows (yet it requires) complete political and creative freedom. In the case of Lina Leal, this implies a set of works which are socially engaged with environments that might be far in time and space.
